The Environment Group at the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) is dedicated to the analysis of the socio-economic causes of environmental impacts, and the policies that may be used to ameliorate them. It seeks to undertake policy-relevant research of the highest quality, with a view to contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the environment’s contribution to human welfare, now and in the future.

Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftliche Strukturforschung (GWS)

The Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftliche Strukturforschung (Institute of Economic Structures Research,GWS) was founded in 1996 by Prof. Dr. Bernd Meyer. The analysis of changes of industry structures in the macroeconomic context is the main focus of this private research institute. GWS has developed a unique system of macroeconomic forecasting models that distinguish different industries and regions.

Freie Universität Berlin - Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU)

Based mainly on comparative research of industrialised countries and analysis of environmental policies, the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) is principally active in exploring the potentials, restrictions and impacts of national environmental policy-making within the wider context of global environmental governance. Thereby, considerable attention is paid to the development of new strategic concepts for environmental policy-making.

Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI)

SERI is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of material flow analysis, policies for a sustainable natural resources use and indicators for sustainable development. In a number of international research projects, SERI models and analyses economic and social aspects of dematerialisation and decoupling policies as well as the interrelations between environmental, economic and social policy measures.
