The Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftliche Strukturforschung (Institute of Economic Structures Research,GWS) was founded in 1996 by Prof. Dr. Bernd Meyer. The analysis of changes of industry structures in the macroeconomic context is the main focus of this private research institute. GWS has developed a unique system of macroeconomic forecasting models that distinguish different industries and regions.

Based mainly on comparative research of industrialised countries and analysis of environmental policies, the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) is principally active in exploring the potentials, restrictions and impacts of national environmental policy-making within the wider context of global environmental governance.
