Training for Equality
A Study of Race Relations and Equal Opportunities Training
Colin Brown and Jean Lawton
![]()
This book takes an unbiased look at a subject which has attracted a lot of controversy over the past few years. The research it discusses takes stock of the current provision of race relations training and discusses the extent to which it meets the needs as expressed by employers in the private and public sectors. The research included interview surveys with providers of training, and a telephone survey of a sample of large firms to discover their perceived training needs.
The report sets out what training is available, analyses the differing objectives that the organisations use race relations training to achieve, and discusses the role of training in working towards equal opportunities and race equality. The report also includes a review of the literature.
