Care Managers and Care Management

Edited by Isobel Allen

This discussion paper brings together four of the papers delivered at the annual seminar held by the Association of Directors at Social Services and Policy Studies Institute in July 1989, supported by the Joseph Rowntree Memorial Trust.

The book examines the implications for social services departments of the widespread introduction of care managers and care management. As well as discussing the new skills required for the development of care management systems, the papers stress the need to recognise that the future is likely to bring fundamental changes to the culture of social services departments.
