The National Disability Information Project (NDIP) was launched by the Department of Health in 1991 to explore ways of improving information services for disabled people, their carers and service providers. The project had two aims: nationally, to improve the effectiveness of the national information providers and to promote greater coordination, and locally, to encourage the development of effective local information services.
One way in which NDIP aimed to do this was by supporting 12 pilot projects concerned with disability information provision. NDIP also supported the work of other local and national projects which were not funded by NDIP, by providing them with information and guidance.
PSI was appointed as the Project Team to oversee all the work of NDIP. To fulfil this responsibility, the Project Team provided the pilot projects and other local projects with guidance on a number of important aspects of their work. The following publications outline all the key issues addressed by NDIP, and provide a comprehensive overview of this important project.
