An introduction to agent-based modelling
PSI’s Pete Barbrook-Johnson recently taught a session on agent-based modelling (ABM) as part of an ESRC summer school on data analytics at the University of Essex.
Presenting the session with Dr Kavin Narasimhan from the University of Surrey, Pete’s focus was on using ABM as a policy-analysis tool, building simulations of social and policy processes in order to better understand how the interaction of individuals - agents - affects these processes. The event was attended by analysts from county councils in East Anglia, funding agencies, and academics and PhD students from the University of Essex.
Pete will be teaching a similar course at the Big Data and Analytics Summer School at the University of Essex on Wednesday 2 August.
