Background, summary and aims

This project is part of on-going research into the feasibility of estimating the take-up rate of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance (AA) commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions. The feasibility study (Kasparova, Marsh and Wilkinson, 2007) suggested a multi-stage approach to estimation and the project that followed has focused on the coding of DLA claims submitted by adults living in private households. The scoping study covers all remaining categories of claimants - children claiming DLA; adults claiming AA; and adults living in residential care and claiming DLA or AA. It consists of the analysis of transferability of outcomes from the ongoing project on coding DLA Adult claim packs and it results in the assessment of the scope of the forthcoming research.
