Background and Aims

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has commissioned PSI to prepare a ‘scoping’ report on vulnerable workers, with a particular focus on the organisation, representation and support of migrant workers. The report will inform the TUC’s on-going work in this area.

Project Design

There are three main strands to this piece of work. First, a mapping exercise identifying factors affecting the vulnerability of workers and which sectors, industries, job types and geographic locations vulnerable workers are concentrated in. Secondly, an assessment of the work already carried out by the TUC and unions in organising, representing and supporting vulnerable workers. Thirdly, it will provide an indication of the scale of current union efforts to support vulnerable workers and draw out examples of best practice across the range of union initiatives.
