Background, summary and aims

The overall aim of this proposed research is to aid policy development in those areas where Government has some influence. This project will provide information on the usefulness of different Resource Flow tools and make recommendations for their improvement to enable a better understanding of how resources are used. The specific objectives are:

  • Part (a) - Provide an assessment of the robustness and policy relevance for the Biffaward Mass Balance Studies
  • Part (b) - Provide an assessment of the robustness and policy relevance for about five approaches to the analysis Resource Flows
  • Part (c) - Propose a new ‘tool’ to assess the Embedded Emissions which traded goods
  • Project Workshop - In February 2006 to present the results of the project to the wider resource flow and policy making communities

The project is contracted to the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) in York. and PSI’s role is to lead part (a) and the project workshop, and provide support and review for parts (b) and (c).
