Background, scope and aims
The objective of this study is to provide some early feedback for the Department of Work and Pensions on the experiences of incapacity benefit claimants who are directed to a Pathways provider, the staff of provider organisations, and the staff of Jobcentre Plus offices
The project involves interviews and focus groups in six areas with managerial staff in provider organisations and Jobcentre Plus as well as front line personal advisers. Staff to be selected for interview includes those likely to to deal with any structural or contractual issues that arise in the early months of implementation. A sample of clients in each of the six areas will also be interviewed.
Importance of research
The research will contribute to understanding of the effectiveness of the early implementation of Provider Led Pathways to Work.
