Employers Role in the Supply of Intermediate Skills
This important study is based on case studies and interviews with 54 companies across five industries - banking, chemicals, construction, engineering and hotels and catering. Each company was carefully selected with the advice of Industry Training Organisations so as to focus on those with structured systems of training. The study addresses three questions fundamental to any analysis of skills supply and demand:
- What are intermediate skills and how important are they?
- How are intermediate skills developed by employers?
- What have been the influences on employers' training policies and practices in relation to intermediate skills ?
