Introduction

The first phase of the UK Sustainable Hydrogen Energy Consortium (UKSHEC) was a four-year (2003-07), £3.5m initiative, funded under the EPSRC's SUPERGEN programme, involving eight leading UK universities and research centres, and the Greater London Authority. Phase 1 of this project has now been concluded.

This site provides an overview of the Social Science component of UKSHEC Phase 1, which was carried out by the Policy Studies Institute and the University of Salford. The site outlines the work packages, and provides access to working papers and presentations arising from the project.

Phase 2 of UKSHEC has now begun, and is funded for another four years (2007-2011). The consortium has retained a commitment to complementing innovative scientific research with a strong social science research programme. In phase 2, this social science research programme is being carried out by the University of Salford and King's College London.
